About the project

Ride For Peace India - Pakistan is an initiative to bring out the greater reality of what the locals in both the countries do think of each other.

What is Ride for Peace and how was it born?

It all started after a small conversation with a local from Pakistan, which changed our point of view towards that nation and their locals. That also made us realize how drastically wrong we were and that there are so many like us who are living under these wrongful perceptions. We want Indians to know that Pakistanis are no different; in fact they face more problems than us - terrorism, unstable government, army coups, etc. As travelers, all we could think of was to explore and meet locals on both sides and find out by ourselves how each country’s citizens view the other. The questions are going to be genuine and unscripted. Also, we will be listing down few common names from Pakistan and when we interview locals in India we will ask them to select one random name and write a small message to that particular person in Pakistan, and when we visit the other side, if we come across a person with the same name to which the message was addressed by an Indian, then we will hand him/her over that message and ask them to read on camera.

Quite a lot of people have ridden across India and travelled to Pakistan. How is our project different from those?

We have all assumed and believed what we have been exposed to by our media and politicians. Although people have ridden throughout India and even travelled to Pakistan, nobody has actually travelled across both the sides with a motive of interacting with locals in both countries to get an insight into what they think of each other. Our aim is too give an unedited view of both the sides. and will be riding to bring to you all the things that we learn throughout our journey, through our YouTube channel. In the end, we will put all of this together into a documentary that will reflect the story of both sides.

Have both the countries been supportive of the campaign?

So far, we have received only positive response not only from India but from the citizens of Pakistan too. They have even invited us to stay in their homes when we visit their cities. They too are eagerly waiting for this project to start!

Why crowdfunding?

This is a people's project. It belongs to each and every individual who aspires for change, for peace. When we set out on our bikes, we will be representing all of you who have a vision and look at the bigger picture of peace. As someone wise once said, "Peace can never be achieved through violence, but only by understanding each other." It is for the sake of this understanding that we need your support. We will be helping you share your stories with the world!

How will the money be used?

Rs. 600000 in Bikes, Camera and Travel

Rs. 150000 in Accommodation and Food

Rs. 60000 in Miscellaneous

Rs. 90000 in Admin Costs

What are the risks and challenges associated with your project?

No matter how wonderful riding a bike may be, there’s always a safety concern, especially with the distance we plan to cover! We need to be extremely cautious about our safety throughout this journey and make sure we succeed in fulfilling the intent with which we have undertaken this project. That’s the only risk we can foresee!

What happens when I don't raise enough money?

If we fail to raise the funds we’re seeking, we don’t get to set out on this incredible journey. Ride for Peace won’t happen. So many stories on both sides of the border will remain untold. This will be very disheartening for all of us.

How am I going to prove that I won't just take all the money and run away?

Well, science has proven that travelers are some of the most genuine people you’ll come across! We need the funds to be able to afford expenses for this ride, the bikes, camera and other equipment. We are extremely passionate about this project (some of us are even quitting our jobs!). Moreover, we are representing all of you when we set out, there is no way we would squander the country’s reputation by pulling off a con. We will be in touch with you through our YouTube channel through our crazy travel videos and interviews that we shoot during our halts.

Have you applied for the Pakistani Visa?

We are visiting Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi on 6th June. We have already introduced them about Ride For Peace through mail and will be visiting to have a personal meet up at embassy.
