About the project

Bhaari Scene is meant to represent the entire collective of the Indian Hip-Hop circle of our times. It represents a whole campaign in itself through which we’re aiming to raise funds for the children living in Dharavi so that they can wear good shoes while they’re practicing the different elements of Hip-Hop.

What is Bhaari Scene about?

Bhaari Scene is a campaign that aims to empower the kids learning Hip-Hop at the SlumGods school in Dharavi. I want to help motivate and provide a better boost to the kids’ talents through the power of our beautiful Hip-Hop culture. The 2nd idea of the campaign is also to show the non-believers and the world that India has a self-sustaining Hip-Hop community within itself, and it is because of the support of the people itself that we can pull off something as huge as this. Simply put, I want to give back to the culture through the efforts of the people and through my music. All in all, we aim to make this culture a #BhaariScene

Who will be a part of this spectrum?

Though the campaign aims primarily at the Hip-Hop massive, it is open to people from all walks of life to come and witness the change that we are creating by ourselves and be a part of this significant change too.

What makes the campaign unique?

The Bhaari Scene campaign is something that has never been done before. The very idea that we could use music to provide shoes for underprivileged kids is one that helps us overcome a lot of barriers we would have faced otherwise. It is also a new way to actually give back through one's own music. When people ask you, what good can your music do? Show them this!

Why are we doing this?

The children at the SlumGods school are a talented bunch. They are being taught by great mentors about the different aspects of Hip-Hop culture, such as, emceeing (rap), beatboxing, breakdancing, graffiti art, and so on. But even though we have a decent space for us to teach them in and they’re learning well, they lack the most basic need which is shoes. Most of these kids have shown passion in pursuing the art of breakdancing, but due to frequent training sessions and them practicing barefeet for hours, they are prone to injury and inconvenience with scratches/bruises on their arms and feet. This also affects their motivation level so we hope that by getting them the shoes, we’ll be able to give their skill and motivation a boost.

Why crowdfunding?

Because we can not get to where we need to go alone. Making the scene #Bhaari is something that I intend to do along with the whole community of Indian Hip-Hop culture, and that can only happen once the people get involved and support the movement. I believe that India's hip-hop family will stand united and support this movement, and so will everyone else.

How will the money be used?

Rs. 49000 in Shoes

Rs. 5000 in Dance Event

Rs. 6000 in Admin Fee

What happens when we don't raise enough money?

If the unfortunate situation arises that we do not get to raise enough money, we will have to look for an alternate way to raise the money and the children will go without shoes for a longer time.

How are we going to prove that we won't just take all the money and run away?

If this was my goal I wouldn’t start this campaign in the first place. I have been in the hip-hop scene for over a decade and this idea and project comes from a very pure place in my heart. This is something I have been planning for over a year and to see it come to fruition finally is a blessing. With that, let’s support each other and make the scene #Bhaari
