Symphony Novel's Melodious Journey After Crowdfunding

Posted on 28 January, 2016 by Team Wishberry

Factory FONT WEB Symphony Novel is a band that creates a unique mix of instrumental music, progressive rock and classical Indian vocals. In September 2014, they crowdfunded for their music video Ethereal Ash, which has received stellar reviews in India as well as abroad. The band’s guitarist, Rachit Sachdeva, shares his crowdfunding experience and what the band has been up to since! View their campaign page HERE.

What have you been up to since the crowdfunding success?

Rachit: We have been very busy promoting ‘Ethereal Ash’. The feedbacks, reviews, comments that we’re receiving on the track and the music video are overwhelming. This song is the sole reason that we got signed up with Shunu Records (a Swedish record company), and now we are coming up with a new album.

What challenges did you face throughout this project?

Rachit: The major challenge that we faced was getting our fans to learn about crowdfunding. It’s not a known concept in India, and sadly some look at it as charity.

How did you get the team on-board for this project?

Rachit: It all simply fell into place. All the band members truly believed in this project, and we started our promotions and meetings immediately. The initial couple of weeks were tough, but once it kicked off, there was no looking back. Every member of Symphony Novel worked real hard to reach the target, and we actually crossed it before the time ran out. J Also, we have added a new member to the band - Nikhil Abraham, on the keyboards. He is a very talented guy, and we are very excited to work with him.

What has been the highlight of your journey so far?

Rachit: Winning the Radio City Music Awards 2014 for the best Metal Artist, and winning the Best Album Art for our debut album ‘Aria’ have to be the highlight of our journey. But, with Ethereal Ash now playing on MTV Indies, VH1, and the 9xO Channels we’ve got a lot going on. We’ve also been interviewed and received good reviews from webzines in India and overseas. Rock Street Journal, All About The Rock, All About the Rock (Best song releases of 2014), Phils Picks Music Blog, Prog Metal Zone, The Circle Pit are some of the known webzines who’ve featured us. The video was also aired on Apollo Night LA Radio Show, here's the entire episode:

Have you been inspired from any particular artist/band?

Yes, of course. All of our work is influenced by the work of our favourite bands. They are Haken, ISIS - The Band, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Tool, Plini, Evanescence, Dream Theatre, Karnivool and Contortionist.

The success of ‘Ethereal Ash’ demands for more. So, what are you working on next?

We have recently finished the music video of our song ‘The Lake’. And it’s killer! We can't wait to show it to everyone. Also, we just finalized the lyrics of all the new songs for the upcoming album. Curious to know how you can raise funds for your next music album like how Symphony Novel did? Just submit your details below and we will teach you how you can crowdfund successfully! [gravityform id="13" title="false" description="false"]
