In case you haven’t already heard, we’re the official crowdfunding partners for Jio MAMI 2015! What’s more, we’ll be doing a fun and interesting panel discussion on crowdfunding for independent filmmakers. Want to know how you can raise funds for your indie film? Hear it straight from our panelists slash crowdfunding rockstars.
Gigi is the advisor for the film Punyakoti
, India’s first Sanskrit animated film. Punyakoti is based on a south Indian folk song and has its soundtrack composed by none other than musical maestro Ilaiyaraaja. What’s interesting to note is that 80% of the people who funded Punyakoti had no idea who was making the film and funded solely out of love for the idea.
He is the director of Kothanodi
- a film that brings dark folktales from Assam to life through a narrative of four mothers. The film went on to win the Asian Cinema Fund’s prestigious Post Production Award, becoming only the second ever Indian film to do so. In addition, Kothanodi was the official selection at the 20th
Busan International Film Festival and the Dharamshala International Film Festival 2015. It’s also selected for Jio MAMI 2015 in the India Gold category!
Ruchi is the producer of Proposition For A Revolution
- a documentary chronicling the Aam Admi Party’s journey from formation in December 2012 to the Delhi state elections in December 2013. The documentary went on to win the Best Film Award at NFDC WIP Lab as well as the Asia Network of Documentary Fund 2014.
A writer and independent filmmaker, Vasant Nath
has funded as many as six film crowdfunding projects on Wishberry. He’ll be at the panel to talk about the funder side of the crowdfunding equation. To sum up the motivation behind his borderline addictive crowdfunding contributions, he says, “Crowdfunding is a great way to simultaneously create an audience while creating a product that the same audience will eventually consume. Plus, we’ll all make better stuff if we help each other.”
Priyanka is the CEO of Wishberry and someone with immense insight into crowdfunding. She will be moderating the panel discussion.
