About the project: We appeal to you to support our project in the Marathwada region (Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Beed, Osmanabad)  in Maharashtra. 

This proposal will help us assist 300 scheduled tribes, scheduled castes and other backward communities in this region to construct safe, decent and affordable houses for economically backward rural families. The present houses in which they live have weak foundations, leaking roofs, insufficient space and poor ventilation.

Habitat thru this project, will also facilitate the skills development of unemployed youth and unskilled workers to change the present housing scenario. 

This project you help support will directly impact these families to live a life of dignity and have a place to call home.

About Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity India (HFH India) is a not- for-profit organization providing low cost housing solutions. In India, we began operations in 1983 and have since built 40,000 safe, decent and affordable homes sheltering 2,00,000 families. Given the immense need for decent housing, Habitat also acts as a catalyst for improving housing conditions by offering Habitat’s support, expertise and experience to other groups and partners. Habitat in India operates through Habitat Resource Centers (HRCs) in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.

A unique feature of Habitat for Humanity India's Program is Volunteering. As a volunteer, Habitat offers an opportunity to take part in “hands on” construction or renovation of houses,helping keep costs down. For many of our volunteers, working in the urban slums or rural villages of India with families in need, irrespective of caste, creed or social status can be a highly emotional and satisfying experience both for the volunteers and for the families whose homes they help build. Volunteers get to see how poverty housing undermines the life chances of children and adults alike thus offering a journey of discovery and transformation thru this program.

Our interventions also extend beyond housing to areas of livelihood, sanitation, water projects, disaster risk reduction and rehabilitation.
